The Royal College Simulation Educator Training (SET) course was developed to improve medical training capacity in Canada through faculty development and will serve as the foundation for growth of simulation-based health educator competency across Canada. It includes a spectrum of content designed to advance the skills of both novice and intermediate simulation educators. This online component of the course consists of 5 self-study modules. Authored and peer reviewed by healthcare experts from various specialties and backgrounds, they present important self-assessment questions, answers, and evidence based rationale helping you to close best practice knowledge and skill gaps.


Price

FREE for Fellows of The Royal College, $200 Non-Fellows. Fellows must enter their fellowship ID at checkout to receive the discount.

Learning Outcomes

The course focuses on the competencies required to

  • Develop a simulation curriculum and integrate with other learning activities
  • Design, develop, facilitate and evaluate simulation cases and simulation sessions
  • Provide effective feedback and debriefing
  • Describe the principles informing performance based assessment
  • Describe the foundations of program evaluation for simulation programs

CME Accreditation

This activity is an Accredited Simulation Activity (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. You may claim a maximum of 6 hours (credits are automatically calculated).

Time Commitment

The course takes about 6 hours to complete. You do not need to complete all of it in one session. You can logout of the system and return later. Your progress will be saved automatically.

We have tested the learning environment and cases to function properly on the most up to date version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge on desktop and tablet devices.
